A million dollars is a lot for a sword that can't kill someone, but this glass sculpture does contain 70 carats of diamonds and rubies and took glass artist Monique Schloss more than six months to create.
The glass sculpture capital of the world can be found in Italy, and it's a man's world: Dutch woman Schloss has beaten the odds to make the Katana sword, and such creations have helped make her name on the world stage.
The gems are all flawless, and many are contained within the glass—this is no glue job—and the handle took months to design and perfect. The market will decide how much it's worth in January when the sword goes up for auction in New York.
